Meet Our Characters

Meet Mateo

Mateo is an energetic toddler who’s always on the move. Whether he’s kicking his soccer ball or drumming on pots and pans, Mateo loves making noise. He’s starting to use short phrases, like saying “¡gol!” when he scores or “agua” when he’s thirsty. Mateo’s favorite color is green, and he enjoys breakfast burritos, especially when they’re made by his family. He’s learning to express himself in both English and Spanish, making every interaction an opportunity to communicate.

Mateo shows us that language can grow through playful moments, as children learn new sounds and words through movement, rhythm, and everyday routines.

Meet Emma

Emma is a creative toddler who’s fascinated by animals and loves painting with bold, bright colors. Her favorite thing to do is go on nature walks, pointing out birds, squirrels, and bugs, and practicing words as she goes. Emma also enjoys making art at home—her favorite color is yellow, and she loves showing off her paintings to family. She’s getting good at using short phrases like “all done” or “again, please” to make her thoughts known.

Emma’s curiosity and creativity remind us that language develops through exploration—whether she’s naming animals, chatting at snack time, or expressing herself through art.

Meet Diego

Diego is a lively preschooler with a passion for baseball and food. He dreams of hitting a home run one day and practices his swing with friends whenever he gets the chance. Diego also enjoys spending time in the kitchen, learning the names of ingredients and creating fun meals with his dad. He’s always excited to share what he learns—whether it’s a new recipe or how to say “queso” and “rice” in both English and Spanish. Diego’s favorite color is blue, and he enjoys having friends over to share his meals.

Diego reminds us that language grows through hands-on experiences—whether playing sports, preparing food, or chatting with friends about his latest discoveries.

Meet Sofia

Sofia is an observant preschooler who enjoys dance and discovery. She loves going to ballet class, where she practices new movements and makes friends along the way. Sofia also has a passion for museums—her family visits often, and she loves asking questions about everything she sees, from paintings to artifacts. Her favorite color is purple, and she enjoys pretending to be a tour guide, explaining exhibits to anyone who will listen. Sofia switches between English and Spanish with ease, sharing what she learns in both languages.

Sofia reminds us that language is all about exploration and expression—whether through dance, conversations, or curious questions at a museum.
